Summer 2

This half term we have been looking at living things. We had a visit from the dental nurse. She told us all about what foods are good to eat and how to keep our teeth healthy. We also had some eggs delivered. We watched them hatch and we watched the chicks grow. We got to hold them and watched them run around with their friends. After learning the story of The Little Red Hen, we baked our own bread, we loved it. We then went on a minibeast hunt in our forest school area and went to visit our school pond.

Sports Day - apologies we didn't get many. The iPad over heated and shut down.

Summer 1

What a busy half term we have had! We celebrated the King's coronation by having a parade, singing songs, having our own coronation and a picnic. We even wrote a letter and sent a card to the King. This term we have been looking at the story 'Oliver's Vegetables'. We tried some vegetables that were in the story and made soup, it was yummy. We also watched the tadpoles turn into frogs, planted some potatoes and had a go on our new trim trail.

Spring 2

This half term we have been looking at the story 'The Runaway Pancake'. We read the story and learnt it off by heart. We then changed parts of the story and wrote our own versions. We also enjoyed making and eating pancakes! Yum! We also enjoyed playing with some of our new equipment outside.

Playpod session and Break the rules day

World Book Day

Everybody looked fantastic on World Book Day. I was very impressed that all of the children knew what their word was! They all looked wonderful!

Spring 1

What a jam packed half term we have had!

This half term, we have had a very cheeky visitor in our classroom. We had a visit from the Naughty Bus! He made lots of mess in our classroom and we went on a hunt to find him. We eventually found him in our sand pit and we wrote a letter to PC Dunn to tell him that we had found the Naughty Bus. We also celebrated Lunar New Year. We tried some Chinese food, which was yummy and we performed a dragon dance! We also had a sea creatures week, where we learnt all about sea creatures and performed an under the sea dance to Year 1 and Year 2. In our final weeks we looked at the story 'The way back home'. We learnt about space and maps and we went on a visit to the Library. We were also very grownup and buttered our own toast during snack time.

Autumn 2

This term we have enjoyed learning about Diwali, Remembrance Day, Pirates, Stickman and Christmas. The children were amazing in their Christmas performance and we had lots of fun at our Christmas party. Please take a look at some of the exciting things we have been up to.

Children in Need week

What an exciting week we had last week, not only was it Children in Need week and we had parents and grandparents visit us at school but we also had a baby shower for Miss Woodward. We were so sad to see Miss Woodward leave to start her maternity but we are so excited to meet the newest member of our Reception family :)

Thank you so much to everyone that came to our Children in Need coffee morning/afternoon. We had so much fun playing with you and showing you our classroom. Reception raised a fantastic total of £80.30 for Children in Need. Thank you!!!!!

Autumn 1

We have had a very exciting first half term in Reception! We have learnt the story of Goldilocks and the Three bears and made wanted posters because Goldilocks made a mess in our classroom! We also made yummy flapjacks which we baked and shared with Nursery. We have had lots of fun exploring our outdoor area and learning new skills like how to ride a bike. We have also had a superhero week and made lots of new friends. We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures of some of the activities we have been up to.

Welcome to Reception

Here is some useful information about the year ahead:

  • The children will read to an adult on a Monday or Tuesday and they will come home with two books for the week. Please leave the home/school diaries in book bags every day and sign to say you have listened to them read.
  • PE is on a Thursday. Please make sure their kit is in their locker all week with some spare clothes inside and everything is labelled.
  • All children should have wellies in school, if you have not done this please bring them in ASAP.
  • All children need a waterproof coat with a hood as we go out in all weathers.
  • Singing assembly is on a Tuesday.
