Foundation Stage 2019-2020

Welcome to Cygnets and Ducklings
Happy New Year to all our friends in Cygnets and Ducklings. We have been becoming much more independent in the classrooms. We have many different areas in both classrooms. Reading areas which promotes the children's love for reading. The children are really enjoying using our writing areas, writing stories and drawing pictures.

The craft workshop where the children have been busy making puppets, bags and masks. They have been using different resources and books to give them ideas. Outdoors they have been transporting water, making potions and using a new water wall, finding ways to get the water from the top to the bottom.

Our focus this half term has been The Gingerbread man. We have been baking gingerbread men, counting their buttons and have created our own stories based on the gingerbread man.
This week was Diversity week. We have been talking about why we are all different but also similar. We looked at our features and our personality. We have painted pictures of ourselves and have written about what makes us special.

The Three Little Pigs

This week we came into school and there was a crime scene. Someone or something had blown down sticks, straw and bricks and made a HUGE mess in our classroom!

We became detectives and looked for clues to see who had been in. We have been reading the story of The Three Little Pigs and thought it might be the wolf. We then made WANTED posters and described what the wolf looked like. We have also been re-enacting the story and building houses.

This week has been very exciting!

Nest in the Woods

Cygnets and Ducklings went on a trip to Nest in the Woods. We had a great morning. We went on a teddy bear hunt, looked for mini beasts, built dens, played on the adventure playground and toasted marshmallows over the fire.

Welcome to Reception and Nursery

The children are settling in very well. Here is some useful information about the year ahead.

Reception children will read on a Monday and will have 1 book change on a Wednesday. Please leave the home/school diaries in book bags every day. We will not always change books if diaries haven't been signed so please make sure you sign them.

Nursery children will choose a library book on a Wednesday to share at home over the week. Please make sure it is in your child's book bag on a Wednesday.

Reception children will do PE on a Wednesday. Please make sure their kit is in their locker all week with some spare clothes inside.

Nursery children need to have their spare clothes bag in their locker everyday, please check it regularly to make sure your child has a full change of clothes in school. If your child borrows clothes from school, please can you wash them and return to school as soon as possible.
