Reception 2020-2021

Welcome to Reception

Here is some useful information about the year ahead:

  • The children will read to an adult on a Monday or Tuesday and they will come home with two books for the week. Please leave the home/school diaries in book bags every day and sign to say you have listened to them read.
  • PE is on a Thursday. Please make sure their kit is in their locker all week with some spare clothes inside and everything is labelled.
  • All children should have wellies in school, if you have not done this please bring them in ASAP.
  • All children need a waterproof coat with a hood as we go out in all weathers.

We all had a great time!

The Naughty Bus

Yesterday morning we came into school and there were tracks across the room. We had to become detectives to find out what had happened. We then found a present, Eliza-Mae opened it and it was a bus... a naughty bus! It wasn't the same one as the story so the children decided the real one had gone missing! We made posters to see if anyone could find him. He hasn't been found yet.....

World Book Day 2021

Thank you for dressing up to celebrate World Book Day! You all looked fantastic!

Home Learning

There has been lots of super learning again at home over the last few weeks. Well done on all of your learning. One more week to go and then we can finally get back into school together.

Have a great weekend.

Home Learning

Reception, you are working so hard at home, I am super proud of all of you. This week you have persevered at subtraction using a number line, you have made your own winter trees, joined in a music session, completed your phonics every day, you have written about bears and pancakes and have tried really hard with your handwriting. I have also added a few door hangers you made last week, they are fab! Give yourselves a pat on the back.

Well done everyone x

Home Learning

Christmas Party Day!

We have had a wonderful party day today. We spent the morning making Christmas headbands ready for an afternoon of fun. We played musical bumps, musical statues, Christmas corners and we danced... LOTS! We then heard Santa's bells and he came to see us, he gave us all a present and told us to make sure we go to sleep straight away on Christmas eve! After that we had our party food, it was yummy!

Here are some pictures.

Just a quick thank you to all our parents for all your support this term, especially during self-isolation.

Have a lovely Christmas and I will see you in January.

Santa Dash

We all did our Santa Dash today! We ran around the running track three times!!! We had lots of fun in our Christmas Jumpers!

Superhero day!

Well done Reception for having such a good first half term at school. You have made lots of new friends, learnt so many new things and have made many memories already!

Thank you for being so great and parents, thank you for all your support.

Have a lovely week off superheroes.

Love from

Miss Woodward

We had some very special visitors today. Spiderman, Wonder Woman and Batman all came to school to collect the money we raised for Chelwood Food Bank.  We loved seeing the superheroes and you'll never believe what Spiderman did.... He climbed the tree, closed himself in our bike shed, went down the slide and rode on our bikes! It was so much fun and we can't wait to dress up as superheroes next Thursday.

Thanks for all your generous donations.

Today we came into the classroom and somebody had trashed the home corner. There was porridge everywhere, chairs tipped over, footsteps and a pink clip on the floor. We became detectives and had to work out who had been in. After lots of thoughts we decided it must be Goldilocks as the smallest bowl had no porridge left!

We spent the day writing letters to ask her to come back and tidy up, we made wanted posters to try and find her and we searched all the playground to find more clues.

What an exciting day we have had.... lets see if she comes back to tidy up!

All the children are settling in very well. They are making lots of new friends and getting to know myself and Mrs Dixon. The children have been trying their school lunches and most children have eaten well. If they don't like their dinner we will let you know so you can change their choice on Parent Pay. Our lunch time is now slightly earlier at 11.30am so we have decided not to have our snack in the morning but have it in the afternoon. They get a choice of milk or water and then a piece of fruit plus a cracker/ breadstick.

Here are some photos from our first week.
