Virtual Learning Week 10 (22.6.20)

Week beginning 22nd June

Good morning everyone! We hope you had a good week last week and are all keeping well and busy. This week looks as if it’s going to be a sunny one so hopefully everyone will be able to enjoy being outdoors more often.

As usual, your work for the week is listed below. Don’t forget to take a look at our ‘Optional extras’ folder in Google Classroom if you would like any other activities to do.

Have a good week,

Love Mrs Draper and Mrs Gadd smiley

Learning Tasks Week beginning 22nd June 2020

Monday 22nd June 2020

Reading: 20-30 minutes to yourself – write a summary of what you have read in your school work book. Ask a parent to check it and make sure they understand what has happened from your description.

Grammar / Punctuation: Fronted Adverbials BBC link: Fronted Adverbials

Watch the video and complete the quizzes and challenges.

Maths:  Maths booklet – Place value and whole numbers

You are going to continue with your maths booklet from last week. We will be completing the booklet this week so would like you to pace yourself so that you do some of it each day. To keep your tables going, you should also go on TTRockstars, print off a times table square to complete or play some times tables games (these can be found in Google Classroom). You should spend 30 – 40 minutes on maths each day.

Topic: Geography

You should now have lots of notes about Canada! This week we would like you to present your findings, bearing in mind the following points:

  • your facts should be beautifully presented in joined writing and any colouring should be neat - just like you would do if you were in school!
  • this is the first of three parts of research – have a think about how the other two parts can link up with what you do this week so that you have a complete project on North America rather than three separate ones.
  • make sure that you include lots of the facts that you have researched.
  • we would like you to use your imagination! You can make models, paint, colour, collage, attach pop-ups, attach flaps etc.
  • please do not do a PowerPoint presentation.
  • here are some ideas of ways in which you could present your work (you may well have a better, more creative one and, if so, please use your idea!):
  • a booklet with pop ups
  • a map with facts attached (pop ups, flaps with facts on etc)
  • a model of a landmark with facts attached
  • a large flag with facts attached.

We are sure that you will have lots of fantastic ideas! Please take a photo and hand your work in, via Google Classroom, at the end of the week for us to see. Remember that this is an activity for the week and you should be doing some each day.
