Tuesday 12th May

Good morning Year 1, I loved seeing your videos yesterday! Today is international nurses day, which is the same day as Florence Nightingale's birthday. Do you remember learning about Florence Nightingale? So today I thought we could do some activities linked to this special day as nurses are so important to us, especially at the moment!

Today's tasks:

Literacy

Please read 'What does a nurse do' and answer the questions. Please complete the first piece of reading and worksheet. Sound out any words that you are not sure of. Have a go, parents can help you with any words that you are really stuck on.

Phonics

Please watch the 'ou' video on espresso and complete the activities.

Maths

Get moving with Mr Pumpernickel in the super movers money video.

Watch 'choosing coins and notes' on espresso. I have then put some maths activities on google classroom. The sheets are differentiated, choose one for your child to do. They can do more than one.

Other activities

Can you compare hospitals from the past to hospitals now? I have added a PowerPoint if you need a reminder of what hospitals were like in the past whilst Florence Nightingale was alive.

Do you know a nurse or someone that is a keyworker? I would like you to make them a card to cheer them up and say thank you for all the hard work that they are doing at the moment. If you can, try and post it to them or send them a picture of it. Draw a beautiful picture on the outside and write a message on the inside in your best handwriting.

Can you help to make lunch today?

As its singing day, choose a song to sing, turn it up loud and sing your heart out.

Monday 11th May

Good morning, it's the beginning of another week. How glorious has it been this weekend! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Did any of you have any celebrations for VE day? There was a house on my street that had a big speaker outside their house and played music all day. It was lovely, they played a range of music including 'We'll meet again' by Vera Lynn. Google that song if you are not sure what it is. I have put a special check in on google classroom and I will be replying to all of your questionnaires today. Thank you for filling in the questionnaires. It helps me to plan tasks for the following week and allows me to help you with any questions or queries.
