Learning Tasks Week beginning 15th June 2020 |
Monday 15th June 2020
Reading: 20-30 minutes to yourself – write a summary of what you have read in your school work book. Ask a parent to check it and make sure they understand what has happened from your description.
Grammar / Punctuation: Commas revision BBC link: How to use commas in sentences Watch the video and complete the quizzes and challenges.
Maths: Maths booklet – Place value and whole numbers You can find your maths booklet in Google Classroom. Please choose the level suitable for you from bronze, silver and gold. We will not be completing the book this week (we want to be half way through it by the end of the week) so would like you to pace yourself so that you do some of your booklet each day. To keep your tables going, you should also go on TTRockstars or print off a times table square to complete (this is in Google Classroom too). You should spend 30 – 40 minutes on maths each day.
Topic: Geography Our new topic is North America and we are going to be studying different parts of it: Canada, USA and the Caribbean. This week we would like you to spend around 40-50 minutes each day carrying out your own research on Canada. This week is all about finding things out and making notes. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PRESENT ANYTHING THIS WEEK - just gather the information as notes in your book! Before you start, look up the continent of North America on a map. See if you can find Canada. There are some maps on Google Classroom for you to use or you could use an atlas if you have one. Once you know where North America and Canada are, you should then find out as much as you can about what Canada is like as a place and as a place to live eg: major cities ruler/ leader population climate land eg: mountain ranges, lakes, rivers, seas, landmarks etc culture eg: food, religions, life styles, jobs, houses, sports, language Canada Day – what is it and why is it celebrated?
Here are some websites to get you started:
