Friday 1st May

Good morning everyone. I hope you have had a good week and the home learning has been okay. We would love to hear how you are all getting on, so please fill in the questionnaire on Google Classroom. Just to reassure you, we can all have our bad days, there was a bit of an atmosphere in the Griffiths household on Wednesday as I snapped at our boys to get on with their work and then had a bit of a rant about tidying their bedrooms. To make things worse, Mr Griffiths suggested (with the best intentions) that I should sit down, have a cup of tea and read my book! Anyway, I am back to my patient and happy self now and the boys have got on with their work without any reminders.

Here are today's activities:

Reception Children

  • Please can you write about what happened in one of the books you have read this week. This could be one of your reading books or a favourite story, you have shared at home. Remember to use your alphabet card, key word sheet and don't forget those finger spaces. Try and sound out the words yourself (parents please don't spell the words out for them, but say the words slowly to help them hear the key sounds.)
  • Please fond some cereal, e.g cheerios or raisins or play food. Get 3 plates and give them a set amount to share between their teddies or family members, e.g Give then 9 raisins and ask them to share them out equally. Repeat this a few times with a different amount each time. (Try it with just 2 plates if they find it tricky.)
  • Please read one of your books.
  • Please go on to You Tube and have a go at the video 'Jump Start Johnny'.
  • Please login to Espresso, then go to Foundation Stage, Literacy, Phonics, Scrap's Phonics, Activities, Set 3- Read the Sentence.
  • Please practise two letters on your handwriting sheet, you might want to try some  big letters first with chalk or water and a paint brush outside. The handwriting rhymes are on your Just Phonics cards if you have them.
  • Can you have a picnic today? It could be inside or in your garden depending on the weather.

Nursery Children

  • Please sort a construction toy into different colours and count how many is in each pile. Which has more? Which has less? Take 1 away, how many have you got left?

Tuesday 28th April
Good morning Cygnets and Duckling. We are missing you all so much and can't wait to get back to school to see all your smiley faces. We hope you are all OK and trying your very best at home. Please make sure you are doing some work for your Mummy and Daddy. Myself and Mrs Griffiths can't wait to hear all about what you have been doing and how well you have been doing your learning activities. Well done to all the Reception children completing the Mathletics games, we can see how well you are doing. Keep it up!

Here are today’s activities:
Reception Children
● If we were in school we would now be starting spellings. Once week will ask you to test your child with their spellings. You will ask them to read them to you and then they will write them in the back of their green book. They will have a week to learn to read and write them. We will set this twice a week but if you have extra time please practise them. Today can the adults write down the key words below in their child’s green book r on some paper. Ask your child to read these to you, you might need to help. Then get the children to write them down by copying them. (the key words start off easy as these are the words they learnt in September. As the weeks go on they will get harder.)
