Friday 15th May

Good morning lovely Reception and Nursery families. I can't believe we are at the end of another week of home learning. Thank you so much Mums and Dads for all your hard work at home. I don't know how you manage to do it, especially those of you who are doing your own work as well. I hope you all have a lovely weekend, I am really looking forward to meeting my eldest son on a walk, as I haven't seen him since the beginning of March and Tilly the dog will like seeing him too!

Reception-

  • Today you are going to write a story using 4 sentences. You will have a Character, Setting, Problem and Solution. Go and choose your character, problem and solution. The setting will be your house. Now think about your story starter. Will you use, One sunny day, Once upon a time or One dark scary night? You can choose a different one if you prefer. Then write a sentence for each part of the story. Here is mine..

One sunny day Daisy the dog was playing in the garden. She has big blue eyes and brown fur. Daisy wanted to go to the park for a walk. She set off and on her way she saw a dragon flying towards her. ‘Agghh I’m scared’ she said. Daisy ran off and the dragon chased her. Luckily Peppa Pig was playing in her garden and she heard Daisy barking. Peppa ran out and got Daisy’s lead. She shouted at the dragon and the dragon flew away. The end.

Can you have a go at your story? We have done this lots before in school so I know that you can have a go at this. Can you impress your mummy and daddy?

  • Please find some teddies or dolls (anything that your children can share between others.) Get 3 plates and give them a set amount for them to share between their teddies or family members. E.g. Give them 6 teddies and ask them to share them out equally. Do this a few times with a different amount each time. You can then split in half so have two plates and ask them to split the teddies in half.

  • Then go to Foundation stage, Literacy, Phonics, Scraps Phonics, Activities, Set 5 - Initial sounds

  • Please practise two letters on your handwriting sheet, you might want to try some big letters first using chalk if you have any or water and a paint brush in your garden. The handwriting rhymes are on the Just Phonics cards if you have them.

  • Can you play some games in the garden, run on the spot, jump on the spot, hop, skip? See how long you can do it for!

Thursday 14th May

Good morning everyone, I hope you enjoy today's activities. I am wondering how you will get on with tidying your bedrooms? One of my boys amazed me yesterday by tidying his bedroom, hoovering and even changing his bed. This was totally out of character, when he was little if asked to tidy his toys, he always needed the toilet and spent a long time there! I think all of you will be very helpful (I've got my fingers crossed).

Reception-

Now put the two sets of words on the table and ask your child to match them up and tell you what they say. Ask them to write them in their book without looking. If they can’t then let them have another look.
