Nursery Learning Tasks Week beginning 6th July 2020

Monday 6th July 2020 Reading: Please share a story with an adult. Either a book in your house or a book on Espresso and look at a story video. Writing: Please can you have a go at writing your name. Adults if your child cannot do this please write their name in a different coloured pencil and ask them to go over the top. Have a go at practising each letter. If you can write your name, please practise forming the letters correctly using the rhymes on the back of the phonics cards. If you can now write your name and form them correctly please do one of the additional phonics/writing activities. Maths: Please log into Google Classroom and do the What the Ladybird Heard Counting Sheet. Phonics: Please log into Google Classroom and complete the I spy CVC game. Physical: Please go to this link and have a go at ‘Boogie Beebies’ Additional activities:

Tuesday 7th July 2020 Reading: Please share a story with an adult. How about listening to a story on here. Writing: Please have a go at writing some big letters using chalk if you have any or water and a paintbrush in your garden. The handwriting rhymes are on the Just Phonics cards if you have them. Maths: Please log on to Google Classroom and have a go at I spy number 4 and 5. Phonics: Please log on to Google Classroom and have a go at a few pages of the CVC initial letter matching. Physical: Please use some playdough (see recipe in pack) to have a go at Dough Disco and make some different things. Additional activities:

Wednesday 15th July 2020 Reading: Please have another go at talking about the Oxford Reading Tree Characters. If you can, print them off and cut them out including their names. Talk about the different characters and who they are. Can they recognise Mum? Dad? Biff? Etc Once they can recognise the characters show them their names and look at the initial sound to help eg. Mum starts with ‘m’. You can go to this website Oxford Owl and click on Level 1 it will have a few books without words for your child to talk about the pictures and find the characters in the book. Maths: Please log into Google Classroom and complete the Zoo animals count and colour. Writing: Please can you have a go at writing your name. Adults if your child cannot do this please write their name in a different coloured pencil and ask them to go over the top. Have a go at practising each letter. If you can write your name, please practise forming the letters correctly using the rhymes on the back of the phonics cards. If you can write your name please practise writing three letter words. Instead of talking about it, you could write it down with any sounds your can hear.
Maths: Can you put your number cards in order 1 -10 or if you want a challenge 1- 20. Adults can you take a card away and see if your child knows which is missing. If your child doesn’t recognise some numbers play games with those numbers. E.g. through a teddy to the number, splat the number, run to the number. You can do this on plain paper or in your writing book. Please use your alphabet card, key word sheet and don’t forget finger spaces. Try and sound out the words yourself (parents please don’t spell all the words for your children. Encourage them to hear the main sounds in the word E.g. Swimming- swmig, giraffe- jraf) Maths: Please go into Google Classroom and find the Mathletics Workbook ‘Problem Solving’ If you can, print this out. If not then just write the answers from the screen. Please do page 6 and 7. Handwriting: Adult’s please write down on a piece of paper r, b, n write them on the left hand side of the page and ask your child to write the letter going across the page. E.G. r r r r r b b b b b n n n n n Then please copy these sentences in your best handwriting, making sure you form the letters correctly. I can run. We can play bat and ball. The nut is brown. (there, what, when, out) If they get some wrong, please keep practising these as well as their new ones. Then adults please write down the key words below in your child’s green book. Ask your child to read these to you, you might need to help. Then get the children to write them down by copying them. Then write a sentence for each word. Please practise these throughout the week. We are going to recap some of the tricky spellings. If we were at school we would be having more practise and time on these. Friday 10th July Reading: Please read a book today, if you have read your books, please go onto Oxford owl and choose a book at the same level (look on the back to see which level they are on) Writing: Today can the adults write down your spellings from Tuesday on pieces of paper and cut them out. Please make two sets. Ask your child to read these to you from their green book. Now put the two sets of words on the table and ask your child to match them up and tell you what they say. Ask them to write them in their book without looking. If they can’t then let them have another look. Can they throw a teddy onto the correct one? Can you write them in the garden and they have to jump on the correct one? Can your child put each word into a sentence. E.G. What is the baby doing? One day there was a frog.
