Friday 27th  March
Good morning, It's Friday!

I hope you have all had a lovely week. Today please make sure you go into Google Classroom as the weekly questionnaire will be in their for both Cygnets and Ducklings. We really want to hear from you and how else we can help at home, so it is really important.

I have been asked about more books for your children. We can't get anymore books to you but Oxford Owl is a great website. They have lots of reading books, look on the back of your child's book at what level or book band they are on and you can get the right stage books for them. The books also read to them too. There is an app called 'Pickatale'. They are currently offering a 2 week free trial. This has lots of books that your child can read or it reads to them and at the end it has a quiz about the story. This will aid their comprehension skills. I hope this helps you.

Welcome Back

We hope you all are well and enjoyed your Easter break. We have been lucky that the weather has been very kind to us and we have been able to enjoy the sunshine in our gardens. Thank you for all your responses to our questionnaire. It was lovely to read your feedback, we really appreciated your comments and they have also been very helpful.

We do understand how difficult it is to manage home learning as well as trying to work from home, it is especially difficult for you as your young children need lots of help to complete the tasks. It sounds like lots of you have worked out routines to fit your family's needs. We would recommend, establishing a clear routine, so that your children know when it is time to complete activities with you and times when they can choose what to do. At school we are completing the home learning tasks with the children of key workers, they are completing the activities on and off through the morning. Please remember the children are young and can only concentrate for short periods, so they need to play in between. If your child is reluctant to complete activities, giving them a simple timetable with pictures may help. We use a visual timetable at school. It also helps to warn your child a few minutes before you want them to work with you, maybe choose times when they have just finished playing with a toy or game.

We have planned lots of activities similar to before the holiday, but we have also added resources on to Google Classroom. Please do not feel you have to do everything, choose resources to support your child's learning when you need them. If you don't have time to do everything or your child is very reluctant one day, leave it and come back to it another time or adapt activities to suit you. For example, lots of maths can be done when your child is playing, by just talking with them, either counting toys, adding or taking away objects and finding the total. However if you do want extra materials, these are the resources we have uploaded to help you this week:

  • Power points on addition and subtraction.
  • Addition worksheets.(Reception children)
  • Initial sounds sheets (Nursery children)
  • Reasoning
  • Letter formation sheets
  • You Choose

Please remember this is all new for all of us, we are trying to be helpful, but be kind to yourselves and if you can't do lots of these activities, then don't worry. Stay well and be happy, we can catch up with work in a few weeks time hopefully.
